Welcome to the 26th edition of ‘Les Pastellistes’, International juried exhibition 2021. The exhibition will run from December 15th through to March 15th 2022. Due to the pandemic, the exhibition is online again this year, but hopefully next year we will be able to return to our regular vernissage and gallery exhibition, held at a prestigious art gallery in the heart of Montreal.

We are truly honoured and humbled to say that we have received submissions from 20 different countries from around the world – a new record! Our wonderful pastel society is growing every year!

Congratulations to the 128 artists who had their artwork accepted and chosen by a jury panel of 3 well known Master pastellists: Karin Richter, Cuong Nguyen and Corey Pitkin.

18 magnificent paintings were then chosen by our award judge and Master pastellist: Denis Jacques. Nearly 10 000$ worth of cash and material prizes have been awarded to the winners!

On behalf of the PSEC Executive Committee, I wish to thank both jury teams for their generosity, dedication and time devoted to the very diffcult task of selecting 139 paintings for the exhibition, and for choosing the 18 award winners.

Congratulations to all of the award winners, and to each and every one of the participating artists from around the world!

We also wish to invite you to visit our special Masters’ gallery, as well as our Jury gallery!

This year’s honorary guest, Joe Baker, is a pastellist and also the man behind ShowSubmit. Joe will be retiring from ShowSubmit at the end of 2021, and we would like to thank him for his exceptional work and dedication that he provided to hundreds of pastel societies with all their submissions and jury processes around the world. It was a pleasure working with you Joe!

We will have a beautiful PSEC catalogue of the exhibition that will include all of the participating artists and their paintings, complete with a list of the winners. This catalogue can be viewed and purchased by clicking on the link on this exhibition page shortly. I have the pleasure of thanking Fannie Blaney, our graphic designer, who volunteered many hours to put this wonderful catalogue together for us.

Special thanks and much gratitude to our dedicated PSEC committee members and everyone who volunteered their valuable time and skills in order to make this online exhibition a success. We’d like to thank Fannie Blaney, our graphic designer for our publicity and social media posters, and to Nancy Poirier and Marie-Hélène Archambault of Prestige Web who worked long hours to set up our website and exhibition page!

Last but not least, to all of our sponsors for your continued support and generosity. Your contributions are an essential part of our exhibitions and we truly value our partnership with all of you as we strive to promote the pastel medium and it’s wonderful artists around the world.

We truly wish you will enjoy our international exhibition, that portrays a variety of artistic styles and subjects and puts on display the colourful world of pastel paintings!

I wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe holiday season.

Sincerely, Myles Johnston PSEC President
