Michelle Bonneville lives in Montreal and is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada, as well as a member of Arts Sutton, La Galerie Farfelu in Sutton, and The Mile End Gallery in Montreal where she exhibits her paintings.

While Michelle is mostly self-taught, she also develops her talent by regular participation in many professional pastel workshops and by giving lessons to both adults, children, and mentally challenged adults. As well, she has studied art at the Ottawa School of Arts, Algonquin College and Romanie’s Fine Art Studio in Ottawa.

Michelle has been painting for over 35 years. Initially, she concentrated on oils and watercolours. However, since 1992, she has been painting exclusively with soft pastels, a medium which lends itself to the realism she likes to capture. She enjoys the pure and vibrant quality of colour afforded by pastels.

Michelle has participated in numerous art exhibitions in Australia, Toronto, Ottawa and in Montreal, including Festiv’Art, the Brome Fair, and the Dunham Library in the Eastern Townships. Other exhibitions include La Galerie du ruisseau in Laval, the Tudor Room at Ogilvy’s in Montreal, the Arts Sutton Gallery, and la Galerie IN VIVO in Old Montreal.

Her paintings hang in private collections throughout Canada, the United States, Australia, France and Mexico.

“We are surrounded by Mother Nature’s finest creations and abundance of beauty. My two passions, gardening and painting, go very well together. I have always been fascinated by the constant movement of nature and the secrets that lie beyond its surface. The subjects are endless as are the possibilities for an artist painter!”
